[WC_STEM] Volunteers needed: Hendry County Schools Science Fair

Hello Friends!  Please let Donna know if you can volunteer in April for another science fair judging opportunity.  Since this is 5th grade, perhaps they would be interested in advanced undergraduates assisting as judges, too.

Good evening,

I have been contacted by a 5th grade teacher at Country Oaks Elementary School in LaBelle, FL, Mrs. Frasca, who is currently organizing a Science Fair at her school.  She is looking for scientists to judge the students' projects and get them excited about science.  She said that she has judges in the Agriculture/Plant Science background, but would like to find scientists in other areas such as engineering, nursing, medical, space, environment and ocean/water.  Can you please ask your faculty if they would volunteer for this science fair on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 (no exact time yet.)  The school will provide the criteria for the judging and the scientists can ask questions and discuss the projects with the students.  There will also be a session where all scientists can share for 2-3 minutes what they do for work and what their research focus is.

Please let me know if you can provide the name of at least one of faculty member from each area listed below who will commit to attending this event and be an energetic and proud representative for FGCU.  I told Mrs. Frasca that I would try to get a response to her with two weeks.
