Other upcoming events and possibly useful information:

  * Dr. Laura Frost, the previous Director of the Whitaker Center is sponsoring a fundraiser beginning tomorrow. The following text is copied from her earlier email:
On Feb. 10-11, I’ll be participating in FGCU’s Give Day through Give Where You Live: Collier<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.givewhereyoulivecollier.org/__;!!IkmNjII!UfjU8Pg_aAbeJjqVMTM-lHFZPWhCZHi9RyT1S6x0DS6qAa4-rMi7VfVlf1iUDMCH$>, a day to celebrate and increase philanthropy throughout Southwest Florida. This year I decided to raise funds for STEM student-faculty research with The Whitaker Center for STEM Education at Florida Gulf Coast University<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.givewhereyoulivecollier.org/organizations/florida-gulf-coast-university-foundation-inc__;!!IkmNjII!UfjU8Pg_aAbeJjqVMTM-lHFZPWhCZHi9RyT1S6x0DS6qAa4-rMi7VfVlf7OKjQcd$> on this day!

This cause is personal for me. Even more than a decade later, I still keep in touch with my former research students and I am so proud of what they have accomplished. Mentoring them, supporting their research, and taking them to professional meetings is part of what we do as STEM faculty. Our FGCU STEM faculty are doing this important work and wow does it make a difference. But don’t take my word for it, go to my fundraising page to see what two of our STEM alumni have to say.

Save the date! Visit my unoriginally titled page, Dr. Laura Frost<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.givewhereyoulivecollier.org/p2p/175867/dr-laura__;!!IkmNjII!UfjU8Pg_aAbeJjqVMTM-lHFZPWhCZHi9RyT1S6x0DS6qAa4-rMi7VfVlfy8zXtAp$>, between noon on Wednesday, February 10th and noon on February 11th to support STEM student-faculty research and make a donation. If we raise $500 with at least 10 donors, we’ll receive an additional $500 match! This will have an impact on our STEM faculty and students and the FGCU community.

I hope you can consider supporting STEM student-faculty research and the Whitaker Center by donating $25, $50 or even $100 on February 10th and 11th. Please forward this to anyone you know that might be interested in helping. Even a small donation can help support student conference registration. Every little bit helps.

Go Eagles!

Laura Frost
